Indoor Carriage Driving Championships 2010 - Keysoe

Two artic wagons and an entourage of able bodied and disabled drivers made their way to Keysoe for the Championships on April 9 - 11.  All had qualified in the winter indoor series organised by John and Amanda at Greenlands Equestrian Centre.  A hectic 3 days of competition produced some great results!  Highest placed was Louise Kaiholm from Denmark (currently working at COF) who won the Intermediate Pony Class - she led throughout the competition.  She was followed by Christine James in 3rd and Stephie White in 5th.  Amanda was 3rd in the Open Class with her borrowed Dartmoor Hill novice pony, Firefly.  In the lead after the dressage and cones, Firefly wasn’t quite fast enough in the obstacles to keep up with the more seasoned professionals.  Ollie Dernie finished in 5th.  Megan Noble was 3rd in the Young Junior Class - she also led after dressage and cones, but her Dartmoor Hill Pony, Flash just couldn’t quite match the speed of some of the more experienced ponies.  All the drivers who took part had a great weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

Thanks to the support of the charity Sports Driving Unlimited, three drivers with disabilities also competed, and though not placed, they had a terrific weekend, great experience and a warm reception from the audience.

Nidd Hall Driving Competition:  We took 6 competitors to the first outdoor competition of the 2010 season including a team of four drivers with disabilities supported by SDU.  Along with 2 young Chariots drivers, Louise and Stephie, they all competed at Nidd Hall in Yorkshire organised by the NEDTL Club.  This is the first of hopefully 3 competitions this summer which are qualifying events for the National Para-Championships and the Young Drivers Championships to be held in September.  Louise Kaiholm had a cracking weekend winning the novice pony class with Rolo.  She led through all 3 phases and was delighted with the pony in his first outdoor competition for years!
